What is The Chamber of Commerce?
The Chamber strives to enhance the economic vitality and quality of life of Sarasota region by building business success, and seeks to attract new residents and industries to the area while retaining existing businesses. The Chamber offers educational and networking opportunities, business resources like directories and mailing lists, and government advocacy to protect and advance the interest of business. The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce is a private, not-for-profit organization. The Chamber is not a government body.

What is The Chamber and what does it do?
Established in 1921, the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce is made up of 1,600 members representing businesses of all sizes. The Chamber’s mission is to maximize our members' success, the community's competitiveness, and the area's economic strength..

Why would I need to join The Chamber?
Now, more than ever, building substantive relationships is crucial to sustaining and growing your business. The Chamber provides opportunities on a daily basis for you to meet new contacts, whether it’s networking at one of the events or gaining education through our Leadership Sarasota and Shumaker Chamber University programs. How do I become a member of The Chamber?
Joining the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce is easy! Fill out one of our join now forms and a Membership Development Representative will contact you.

What are the dues? Are dues tax deductible?
Dues are based on the size of your company are deductible for federal income tax purposes as a business expense.

What does it cost?
Membership dues are based on your needs. Please contact The Chamber at (941) 955-8187 or email us at
info@sarasotachamber.com to be put in contact with a Membership Development Representative to find out what level of membership best fits your business needs.

What types of programs does The Chamber offer?
The Chamber offers a wide variety of programs for our members, most of which are included in the cost of your membership. We offer professional development seminars for all, as well as a series we call “Shumaker Chamber University” which focuses on the fundamentals of your business from finance to marketing.

Who are the Members of The Chamber?
Our 1,400 members range from single-person shops to corporations with thousands of employees. We have members who have just started their business and members who have been in business for more than a century. If you’re looking for advice on how to grow your business or transition it to the next generation in your family, The Chamber has members who will be there to support you.

What geographic area do you represent?
The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce represents all of Sarasota County and parts of Manatee County.

When is the next Chamber event?
The Chamber hosts more than 100 events and meetings each year. Anywhere from luncheons and evening receptions, to trade show and breakfast groups. To browse our upcoming events, please visit our online event calendar. 

How do I register for Chamber events?
Online registration is available through our online event calendar. Advance registration with payment is required. Online registration is secure and requires payment by credit card. If you prefer not to register online, you may contact Craig McGonigal to register for an event.

If I register for an event, will I receive a reminder prior to the event?
You can sign up to receive an automatic event reminder through the event web page on our online event calendar. However, The Chamber does not typically send registrant reminders prior to events.

I registered for an event and now I cannot attend. Can I get a refund?
Though we regret we are unable to offer refunds for event registrations, we are happy to accommodate substitutions. If you registered for an event and are unable to attend, please send a representative in your place.

I want to be informed about upcoming Chamber events. Can I sign up for The Chamber's mailing list?
The Sarasota Chamber of Commerce sends a weekly e-newsletter called Chamber Buzz that provides details about upcoming events. Anyone can subscribe to this e-newsletter.

What types of sponsorship opportunities are available at The Chamber?

There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available through The Chamber – everything from presenting sponsor of a major event like the Hob Nob or the Small Business Awards to sponsoring a mixer, luncheon or networking event. If you’re interested in learning more about sponsorship, please contact Brittany Lamont for sponsorship opportunities.

Can I offer a special discount to Chamber members?
Yes, you can, log into the members only section of the website to place a coupon or discount. You may also contact Dillon Buckland, Communications Coordinator
 if you’d like to promote a special offer to The Chamber’s members.

How can I look up my company listing or other companies?
To look up a company, use the Directory Search function on our website.

How can I update my company listing or add representatives?
You can update your company's information by logging into the members only section of the website and updating your business information. You may also contact Craig McGonigal

How do I find other Chamber members that offer discounts to fellow members?

The Chamber's Member to Member Discount Program encourages members to do business with other members.

Can I use The Chamber logo on my website?

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to use the Chamber logo with "member of" included as part of the logo on their website. To get a copy, contact Dillon Buckland or login to the Members Only portion of our site to download.

Where can I get a Sarasota County street map?
The Chamber produces a detailed street map of Sarasota County annually. This large, up-to-date map covers the entire County.

How can I find out when a certain event in Sarasota will take place? 
Visit Sarasota County Visitors Center offers an expansive community events calendar at VisitSarasota.org. Check out our Member's Community Calendar

I need demographic and/or population information for the Sarasota area.
