CREATING A FUTURE THAT WORKS

In the coming months and years, Sarasota will create an environment that will help improve our local economy and quality of life through:

Higher-paying Careers For Residents

We must expand opportunities for residents by helping companies develop and train high-tech workers, promoting environmentally friendly businesses initiatives and supporting companies that plan to add higher-paying careers locally.

Support For Existing and New Businesses

Giving equal attention to both new and existing companies is critical to expanding opportunities for Sarasota's residents and will keep the local economy moving in the right direction.

Creating New Partnerships

Quality of life starts with good jobs, a healthy local economy and a stable workforce. Sarasota Tomorrow believes partnerships of local leaders, neighborhood organizations, government, educational, businesses, civic and environmental groups can wisely plan for growth, maintain and recruit businesses and protect the environment, which will enhance the quality of life for all of Sarasota's citizens now and in the future. The Intercity Best Practice Visits have been one way we've created and strengthened partnerships.

Through a public-private partnership, Randy Welker, has been hired as the City of Sarasota's first economic development coordinator.

Promoting "Green" Business

With a range of environmentally-friendly workplace options - from combines helping employees work close to home to reduce traffic congestion to promoting sustainable building environments - supporting businesses that are environmentally friendly is a top priority for Sarasota Tomorrow.

The Chamber has launched a new Green Business Leadership Committee, inspired by its members' growing interest in Green Business practices and policies. The committee is open to all Chamber members who support sound environmental and energy practices within our business community.
