Intern Connect (2)

Name: Nick Yatros

Host Organization: Purvis Gray

Internship Role: Audit Intern

School/Major: Masters in Accountancy/ Bachelors in Business Administration

Tell us about yourself (Background, interests, career goals):

I'm a rising junior at Emory University pursuing a MACC and BBA with a finance concentration. The past 2 years I played varsity basketball for Emory's Oxford college, but I will be matriculating to Emory's Goizueta business school in the fall. On campus, I was an executive member of the student athlete advisory board, Oxford Financial Investment club, and the Oxford Business Association. Outside of school, I have managed a CRM for my family business for the last year. Professionally, I am interested in the transaction side of accounting, and aspire to work in the financial due dilligance field in the future. During my free time, I love anything to do with the water. I am an avid skimboarder and ocasional scuba diver. I also love to light weights and practice the guitar in my free time.

What made you interested in the InternConnect Program?

I gained interest in the InternConnect program because it made the process of finding an internship that fits my needs simple. I wanted to gain experience, make connections, and build my resume this summer and InternConnect put me in a place that best allows for me to do that.

What are your main responsibilities?

My main responsabilities are assisting with audits by reviewing the legitimacy of events that affect the financials of entities. I must analyze documents too see if they match up with records and are compliant with regulations.

What's one skill you're hoping to develop or strengthen this summer?

I'm hoping to develop a full understanding of how companies go about auditing entities.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

The best advice I have ever received was from my Basketball coach. He insisted that the key to success was "wanting it more than the other guy", and I couldn't agree more. Wanting "it" more in basketball leads to hustle plays that make a big difference. You bring more energy, hustle more, and overall make plays you wouldn't have if you heart wasn't truly in the outcome. I believe this can be extrapolated to all aspects of life. If you want something more than others, the work you must do to succeed is easier. You must love what you do so the work needed to succeed doesn't feel like work at all.

What advice would you give to someone applying for this internship?

Be yourself and demonstrate your true interest in the position.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself working in the transaction/M&A deals space in an accounting based area like Financial Due Diligence.
